Putnam County

County History and Information:
Putnam County was originally created in 1842 and named after Revolutionary War General Israel Putnam. Many homes and much farmland were destroyed during the Civil War as a result of both Confederate and Unionist guerilla attacks in the area. Today, Putnam County is the home of Tennessee Technical University. It is also home to the Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival.
