Select Committee Hearing on “Renewable Electricity Standards” Features Colorado Governor

Governor Bill Ritter, Nth Power Founder, Florida Solar Research Center and others to discuss benefits of renewable energy policy.

The Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming,
Chairman Edward J. Markey, will hold a hearing entitled “Renewable Electricity Standards: Lighting the Way” on Thursday September 20th at 9:00 AM.

Renewable electricity standards (RES) have helped a number of states harness the power of wind, biomass, solar and other renewable technologies while creating jobs and economic growth. A national RES was a critical component of the landmark House Energy Bill -- the New Direction for Energy Independence, National Security, and Consumer Protection Act (HR 3221) -- that passed the House in August of this year. Chairman Markey and the Select Committee will hear about benefits of the renewable electricity standards, and how to expand the development and use of renewable technologies.
