This mahogany writing table was likely made by James Green, a cabinetmaker from Alexandria, Virginia. In 1837 Green was paid for supplying the U.S. Supreme Court with, among other items, a total of seven Mahogany Wrighting [sic] Tables at $22 each. The writing tables were manufactured for use by the Supreme Court justices. |
