"As our nation gathers once again to celebrate Veterans Day, let us give thanks to the generations of brave men and women who risked their lives in the armed forces to protect America and the freedoms we cherish.  It is our duty to never forget the courageous commitment of these extraordinary Americans from all walks of life who answered the call to serve.  We also remember in our thoughts and prayers those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country when they gave their lives in the line of duty and those they left behind.

 

"Just as they fought for us, we owe it to America’s veterans to provide the resources needed to care for those who are wounded and disabled and for the families of the fallen.  That includes even more assistance for our veterans who are coping not only with physical injuries, but with the challenges of PTSD and other mental health issues we are still working to better understand.  On this Veterans Day, let us recommit ourselves as a nation to honoring the memory and service of America’s veterans, modernizing the VA system for the 21^st Century and increasing support and services for our returning troops."
