Fortenberry Comments on President's Exchange with Republican Members of Congress

Washington, DC – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today joined his House Republican colleagues in an open discussion with President Obama about pressing matters before our nation.

"I appreciate the President's willingness to dialogue with us. He sought to defend his policies on jobs, the economy, and health care.

"The President seems sincere about the need for bipartisan collaboration for the good of the country.  Unfortunately, bipartisanship has not been the hallmark of this Administration nor the leadership of Congress thus far.

“There are many areas in which we should work together to address the economic concerns of American families, such as building strong local economies by promoting small business success and manufacturing, as well as taking steps to implement commonsense health care reforms such as addressing pre-existing conditions, allowing for portability of health insurance, and creating association plans for the self-employed and small businesspeople."
