Scalise Attends Washington Parish VA Clinic Opening

Clinic will provide better care for Veterans in Southeast Louisiana

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise yesterday attended the opening of the Washington Parish VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic and made the following statement.

“Our military veterans, who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy, should not have to drive for hours just to receive basic care,” Scalise said.  “The new VA clinic in Washington Parish is a big step toward better care for our Veterans throughout Southeast Louisiana.  The clinic provides a convenient way for our veterans to receive first-class health care at a new facility much closer to their homes.  I enjoyed touring the new facility and firmly believe that our veterans will benefit from the services now available at this clinic.”

Congressman Scalise worked very closely with the VA through the entire VA clinic planning process to ensure the clinic opened as soon as possible.  The addition of the Washington Parish VA clinic allows 90 percent of veteran patients to be within 30 minutes of their primary care services.  The clinic is located at 319 Memphis Street in Bogalusa.
