CHAIRMAN STEVE BUYER AND RANKING MEMBER LANE EVANS RECOGNIZE THE 223rd ANNIVERSARY OF THE PURPLE HEART

Washington, D.C.- Sunday, August 7, is the anniversary of the Purple Heart, which is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are wounded in conflict with an enemy force or while held by an enemy force as a prisoner of war. The Purple Heart is also awarded posthumously to the next of kin of members of our armed forces who are killed in conflict with an enemy force or die of a wound received in conflict with an enemy force.

Washington, D.C. — Chairman Steve Buyer and Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.) on Tuesday inspected the care being provided to veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom recovering from combat wounds at the VA Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center (PRC) in Minneapolis, Minn.
