WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) today announced that he has secured $1,050,000 in funding for projects in Tuscola and Bay Counties. This funding was secured in the Omnibus Appropriations Act, which is expected to pass the House tomorrow, followed by the Senate and will then be signed into law by the President.
“I am very pleased that Congress will soon approve my requests for these important projects that will move our communities forward, and improve the quality of life for our citizens. From improving cancer services and reducing substance abuse, to improving our roads and providing opportunities for disadvantaged children, these programs benefit people throughout our area. I am proud to support these projects and I am thankful for the services they provide to our community,” said Congressman Kildee.
Below are the projects in Bay and Tuscola counties that received funding at the request of Congressman Kildee:
$350,000 for Bay Regional Medical Center Breast Care Center
Bay Regional Medical Center’s breast care capabilities are currently spread across the community and require patients to travel to various locations for comprehensive cancer services. This funding would allow BRMC to consolidate breast care into a Breast Care Center.
• Since FY 2009, Congressman Kildee has secured $540,000 for this important project.
$300,000 for the Johnson Street Reconstruction in Bay City:
Funds will be used for the reconstruction of Johnson Street from Center Avenue to Columbus Avenue.
• Since FY 2005, Congressman Kildee has secured $2,163,000 for road projects in Bay City.
$100,000 for the Generations, Human Development Commission, Tuscola County:
The Human Development Commission Generations program is a before/after school and summer program targeted to economically disadvantaged children or those at-risk of failure in school in grades K-5. Generations brings together kids, seniors and teens for activities including drug and crime prevention and awareness, educational instruction, community service, 21st century technology and school success.
$200,000 for the Bay County Neighborhood Resource Center and Bay Regional Medical Center:
Funds will be used to provide substance abuse prevention services to youth and their families through education, early intervention and programming for first time juvenile substance abuse offenders.
