Kucinich Supports Effort to Save Local Dealerships
Writes to GM CEO to try Save Dealerships, Jobs

Kucinich 111th1

Washington, Oct 25 -

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today wrote to the General Motors (GM) Chairman and CEO, Mr. Daniel Akerson, asking him to intervene and prevent the closure of three area GM dealerships. Halleen Chevrolet, Andy Chevrolet (called Sims Chevrolet) and Rose Chevrolet were subject to arbitration decisions that called for the termination of their franchise contracts.  Kucinich has requested that GM wait until the arbitration decisions can be reviewed by the relevant courts.

“If General Motors terminates those dealerships on October 31, the impact on those businesses, their employees and their communities will be devastating. General Motors should not take such final and harmful actions to these dealerships, and to any dealerships whose arbitration decisions involve the same defects, while the legal and factual validity of the arbitration decisions are still in question,” wrote Kucinich in the letter.
