My Committees
I proudly serve on the Committee on Energy & Commerceand sit on theSubcommittee on Energy and the Environment and serve as the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Health. The Energy & Commerce Committee has probably the widest range of responsibility in the House, overseeing health care, energy, environmental protection, telecommunications, trade, consumer protection and other important issues. In addition to working on these issues, from my seat on the committee I have become a nationally recognized leader on a variety of issues, including Medicare reform, the nursing shortage, cancer, stroke and heart disease, domestic violence, and MTBE groundwater contamination.
I also serve on the influential Committee on Natural Resources and sit on two subcommittees: Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlifeand National Parks, Forests and Public Lands. Serving on this committee provides me with an opportunity to help guarantee the long term protection of our nation’s public lands and coastal waters. On this committee I work to ensure that we serve as faithful stewards and manage our precious natural resources in a responsible manner.
