3rd District of Arkansas
The Third District of Arkansas is comprised of twelve counties that move easterly from the Arkansas-Oklahoma border toward the north-central portion of the state. The gorgeous scenery of the picturesque Ozark Mountain Range and the crystal clear lakes and rivers of the Third District are complimented by the friendly atmosphere and tight-knit communities that have developed here over time. This region of the country has seen remarkable growth in the past few years making the northwest corner of Arkansas one of America’s boom areas. World-renowned companies like Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods and JB Hunt base their corporate headquarters in the Third District. They, along with numerous successful smaller businesses that call the Third District home, have created lucrative jobs and, in turn, attracted some of the country's top talent to the area. The Third District is home of the flagship campus for the well-respected University of Arkansas, which has contributed to higher education in the area for 125 years. The peaceful scenery of the Third District has been embraced by a number of retirees who are drawn by the excellent recreational opportunities in the area. For this same reason, it has remained a very popular vacation attraction for nature enthusiasts who enjoy hiking in the Ozarks or partaking in water sports at popular recreational spots like Beaver Lake and the White River. The Third District’s growth has not replaced its charm. It remains one of the most beautiful parts of the country and home to some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet.
