Securing Our Energy Future
North Dakota is positioned to become America’s leader in energy production
with our near-limitless supply of coal, increasingly productive oil fields,
and incredible potential for wind, ethanol and biodiesel production. The
possibilities for the state’s economy are endless.
We have seen these possibilities become reality over the past several
years. North Dakota has grown into the 4th-largest oil-producing state in
the country. And, with the help of the federal renewable energy production
tax credit, we have seen a tremendous increase in wind power capacity, now
ranking in the top 10 in the country.
During my time in Congress, I have been working to enact legislation that
supports the further development of North Dakota’s energy industry. This
includes working to extend and protect tax credits that are vital to North
Dakota’s wind, oil, coal and biofuels industries.
These policies will grow our state’s energy industry and bring good jobs to
North Dakota. But they will also help our state lead the march to American
energy independence.
