Strengthening the Farm Safety Net As the only member of the House of Representatives with a seat on both the Agriculture and Ways and Means committees, I was a conferee and key negotiator on the 2008 Farm Bill. In this role, I fought hard to secure the funds needed to establish a strong permanent disaster program that provides our state’s farmers and ranchers with the relief they need should disaster strike. I think we made significant progress with the Farm Bill, and I will continue to work with producers to improve the crop insurance program, the permanent disaster programs, and other agriculture programs that benefit all producers and the entire North Dakota farm economy.
