WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Charlie Melancon (LA-03) will congratulate the New Orleans Saints' players, coaches and staff for winning Super Bowl XLIV at the "Black and Gold" Parade through downtown New Orleans. Sunday's championship game was the Saints' first Super Bowl appearance in the franchise's 43-year history.
"The Saints' Super Bowl victory couldn't be any sweeter for the Who Dat Nation after over four decades of waiting to bring the Lombardi trophy home to New Orleans," said. Rep. Melancon. "The Saints' historic season united a battered people with a shared sense of pride, and focused national attention on all that is great about our state and its people.
"Today we thank the Saints in true Louisiana fashion, with a parade, for the honor and glory they have brought their fans. My wife, Peachy, and I will be cheering today with the thousands of other Who Dats when the Saints march down Poydras Avenue in what will be the first of many Black and Gold Super Bowl Parades to come."
