Speaking up for the defenseless is among the public servant’s greatest trusts. Sadly, the 21st century has seen no abatement of human rights abuses around the world.

The Declaration of Independence appeals to unalienable rights, given by the Creator, to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is acknowledged by the United States and partly modeled on our Constitution, similarly appeals to inalienable and equal rights. I am committed to supporting policies that promote and protect the dignity and worth of every human being. Through diplomacy, foreign aid and other available means, I believe the United States should be a force for good in the world.
