District Service |
I am pleased to represent the citizens of Missouri’s Second District. Stretching from rural Lincoln County through the St. Charles exurbs to suburban St. Louis, the 2nd district encompasses a wide variety of lifestyles. One of the fastest growing areas in Missouri, the district is host to financial giants such as CitiCorp. Enterprise-Rent-a-Car and Pfizer are also located in the Second District. Rural areas of the district are home to cattle ranchers, soybean and sod farmers. Tourist attractions include historic main street in St. Charles, the Transportation Museum, and the Butterfly House, for nature lovers. The district is located at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, where residents enjoy such recreational activities as fishing, boating and biking on the Katy Trail. District ProjectsAs your congressman, I am privileged to represent the interests of Second District residents on Capitol Hill. I work to obtain needed funding for projects in the district and to serve as your advocate in Congress. TransportationMy office has obtained funding for the I-44 interchange at Bowles Avenue, as well as Highway 141 and the Page Avenue extension, improving traffic throughput and reducing commute time in these critical areas. LeveesMy office has acquired funding for the construction and maintenance of the L-15, Chesterfield Monarch, and Valley Park levees, reducing local exposure to flooding. Community AssistanceMy district office hosted its 6th annual luncheon for the defense community in October of this year. This event provides an opportunity for experts in Missouri and Washington to connect on key national security issues. My office has also helped support such worthy non-profit organizations as Nurses for Newborns, the SSM St. Joseph’s Health Center in St. Charles, and Barnes-Jewish St. Peter’s Hospital. JobsMy office also played a leading role in funding replacement of outdated Navy Prowler aircraft with the technically superior EA-18 Growler. This Boeing product provides thousands of jobs and a nearly one billion dollar positive economic impact to the St. Louis area.
