Critz: Nanty Glo Volunteer Fire Company Awarded $60,328 Grant

JOHNSTOWN, PA --Congressman Mark S. Critz (PA-12) announced today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Nanty Glo Volunteer Fire Company No.1 a $60,328 grant through the Assistance to Firefighters federal grant program.

“Our first responders work hard to keep our families and communities safe,” commented Critz.  “These federal grants will provide them with the additional resources they need to protect our health and safety.”

These competitive grants are awarded to fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS organizations to enhance first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public and that of first-responder personnel.  Since 2001, Assistance to Firefighters Grants has provided approximately $4 billion in grants to first-responder organizations to obtain much-needed emergency response equipment, personal protective equipment, firefighting and emergency vehicles, and training.
