Transportation Projects

The 111th Congress is preparing legislation to authorize funding for most of the nation’s transportation infrastructure investments for the next six years. Included in this bill will be funding for projects in our local communities. Bart has been asked by the state and local communities to submit projects for consideration. The local entities agree to match 20% of the project cost. Below is a list of requests in no particular order.


• Plan, acquire right-of-way, and construct widening of East Main Street in the city of Murfreesboro. Request amount: $5,991,200.

• Relocate Airport Road for Sumner County Regional Airport. Request amount: $2,000,000.

• Plan and construct a Regional Transfer Hub for 14 rural counties in the Upper Cumberland Area. Request amount: $2,769,460.

• Conduct environmental review, acquire right-of-way, and construct Hatten Track Road Extension in Gallatin. Request amount: $6,000,000.

• Plan and construct Stones River Greenway Extension in Rutherford County. Request amount: $18,482,400.

• Acquire right-of-way and reconstruct US-231 in Shelbyville. Request amount: $4,000,000.

• Conduct environmental review, acquire right-of-way, and construct multi-use pedestrian and bicycle path along Lock 4 Road in Gallatin. Request amount: $1,619,036.

• Design, engineer and construct Town Creek Greenway/Promenade in the city of Gallatin. Request amount: $1,062,050.

• Engineer, design and prepare construction plans for bike/pedestrian trail in the city of Hendersonville. Request amount: $410,000.

• Extend greenway in Lewisburg. Request amount: $196,000.

• Engineer and construct streetscape improvement in the city of Portland/Richland Park Trail. Request amount: $818,325.

• Construct Lower Station Camp Greenway in Sumner County. Request amount: $2,000,000.

• Design and construct phase III of the walkways project in Wartrace. Request amount: $156,000.

• Engineer, design and construct streetscape in the city of White House. Request amount: $756,176.

• Develop bicycle and pedestrian trail in Putnam County (Cookeville Central Heritage Trail). Request amount: $2,800,000.

• Plan, acquire right-of-way and construct widening of Greenland Drive in the City of Murfreesboro. Request amount: $5,480,000.

• Construct, engineer and acquire right-of-way for Phase III of Greenway in Smyrna. Request amount: $2,720,000.

• Construct widening of Waldron Road in the city of LaVergne. Request amount: $3,520,000.

• Construct a section of US-41A eastward from its intersection with US-231 in Shelbyville. Request amount: $800,000.

• Construct SR-1 from Cannon to Warren County. Request amount: $45,000,000.

• Acquire right-of-way, reconstruct and widen SR-141 in Lebanon. Request amount: $18,000,000.

• Reconstruct and widen SR-141 in Wilson County. Request amount: $15,000,000.

• Reconstruct and widen SR-141/260 in Trousdale. Request amount: $50,000,000.

• Reconstruct and widen SR-16 in Bedford County. Request amount: $35,000,000.

• Reconstruct and widen SR-26 in DeKalb and Wilson Counties. Request amount: $25,000,000.

• Reconstruct and widen SR-56 in Warren and DeKalb Counties. Request amount: $38,000,000.

• Acquire right-of-way, construct and widen interchange at SR-65/109 in Robertson and Sumner Counties. Request amount: $50,000,000.

• Reconstruct and widen SR-85 in Overton County. Request amount: $85,000,000.
