Kokomo, IN – Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly joined Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight, USDA Area Director Anthony Kirkland, and USDA Project Manager Kirk Johnson at Kokomo City Hall to announce a $75,000 USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant. Rural Business Enterprise Grants are issued by the USDA to provide incentives for business expansion, job retention and creation, and private investment in rural areas of Indiana.
“I’m pleased to announce this significant investment in Howard County’s economic future,” said Donnelly. “I look forward to seeing Hoosier entrepreneurs and existing businesses use this funding to tap into the talented workforce in Howard County.”
“With these funds, the city of Kokomo will be able to assist numerous small businesses who, in the past, have had very few options for alternatives to traditional bank financing,” said USDA Rural Development State Director Phil Lehmkuhler. “These grants are in keeping with the mission of USDA Rural Development which is to provide equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure. USDA Rural Development is committed to improving the quality of life in rural Indiana. When rural Indiana makes progress, all of Indiana benefits.”
