Congressman Joe Donnelly Announces Veterans Appreciation Week

Washington, D.C. -  In honor of the service and sacrifices of America’s veterans, Congressman Joe Donnelly has established a Veterans Appreciation Week, which will officially run from November 12th through November 19th. In his first term, Donnelly has used his post on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs to work on a variety of issues that directly impact veterans’ quality of life. During Veterans Appreciation Week, Donnelly will hold events and make appearances and announcements to highlight issues that are important to our veterans and discus how we—from our friends and neighbors up to and including Members of Congress—can make their lives better. A schedule of all of Congressman Donnelly’s veterans-related events in November, including all Veterans Appreciation Week events, can be found below.

Elkhart County Community-Based Outpatient Clinic Town Hall Meeting

In May, Congressman Donnelly was pleased to announce that the VA has decided to open a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Elkhart County to serve veterans in north central Indiana. Floor Speech Honoring Fallen Heroes of the Second Congressional District

Announcement Related to Veterans History Project

Meeting with Veteran Service Organizations

Congressman Joe Donnelly will make an announcement on Monday, November 19th about legislation related to disability benefits for service members returning from Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. This meeting is to discuss the details of the legislation with various veterans groups.  Representatives from Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America will be in attendance.

Early this year, Congressman Joe Donnelly assembled a Veterans Advisory Committee that is comprised of veterans from all corners of the district. He will be meeting with them for a third time in Plymouth to discuss issues affecting local veterans and what can be done at the federal level to address these issues.
