Corporate Finance

To assist you in your efforts to develop and maintain strong corporate financial practices, I have compiled a directory of resources which includes information from federal, state, and local governments about corporate capital management. These resources apply to public and private companies of all sizes. Click here for more information.

Funding Resources

Although the Small Business Administration (SBA) does not offer grants to small businesses, they do offer grants (which do not have to be repaid) to non-profit organizations that in turn provide advice to small businesses. The SBA also provides a number of programs that give financial assistance to creditworthy business owners. These programs have been specifically designed to meet businesses' key financing needs; including the need for debt financing (loans), equity financing (investment/seed money), and surety bonds. Although there are not federal grant opportunities specifically for business start-ups, expansions, diversifications, or to fund operating expenses; grant opportunities do exist in other areas of the federal sector. 2009 Business Procurement Summit

On Friday, March 27, 2009, I hosted my second 7th Congressional District Business Procurement Summit. The summit brought dedicated leaders of government and business together with local small businesses, community organizations, and municipalities to ensure that the 7th Congressional District has the tools, information, and contacts to secure funding and business opportunities through the government contracting process and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Nearly 60 government agencies and major contractors presented exhibits for the more than 850 representatives of local businesses and organizations. Expert panel discussions covered many aspects of the Recovery Act as well as government marketing and joint ventures and partnerships. Keynote addresses were delivered by distinguished guests Dr. Mark Zandi, the chief economist and co-founder of Moody’s Economy.com, and Lt. General Mark Shackelford, Military Deputy Assistant to the Air Force for Acquisition.
