Kucinich to Deliver Impeachment Petition
Washington,
Sep 9, 2008 -
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and a coalition of groups supporting the Impeachment of the President will hold a press conference tomorrow announcing the results of a continuing grassroots campaign to gather signatures in support of Kucinich’s impeachment resolution which calls for President Bush to be held accountable for taking the country to war against Iraq based on lies.
The news conference will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in room 2456 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Kucinich has gathered 150,000 signatures. 100,000 have already been filed and tomorrow, the day before 9/11, at least another 50,000 will be filed with the Speaker through the Clerk of the House. The effort is ongoing.
The press conference is entitled “The day before the world changed, a day to change the world!” will focus on impeachment, with accountability being the first step towards a process of truth and reconciliation in America.
“The economy is the issue in this election, and a major reason why is that the United States is wasting hundreds of billions of dollars in a counterproductive war which is based solely on lies. The war has been responsible for the rising price of oil. The war has caused military contract spending to go through the roof while domestic spending has flat lined. The President must be held accountable!” Kucinich said.
