Boozman: Oversight of GI Bill Implementation Will Continue

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs conducted the fourth in a series of oversight hearings on the implementation of the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Ranking Member John Boozman of Arkansas made the following statement:
“Since the subcommittee last met on this subject, we have continued to meet with education and IT staff from VA and SPAWAR as well as Senate Veterans Affairs Committee staff. I appreciate everyone’s work to stay current on the progress towards meeting the August 1, 2009 implementation date for the Post 9-11 GI Bill.”

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Steve Buyer of Indiana, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, welcomed the new Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Honorable Eric K. Shinseki. Secretary Shinseki, a retired Army general and former Army Chief of Staff, appeared for his first hearing before the Committee and answered questions about the state of the VA.
