Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Walt Minnick this week joined fellow members of Congress in sending a letter to President Barack Obama opposing a proposal to bill the private insurance companies of veterans receiving treatment for service-related injuries.
The administration has announced that the proposal will be withdrawn.
“I appreciate the president listening to the concerns of myself and my fellow members of Congress, and I very much appreciate all the Idaho veterans who helped me make the case to the administration,” Minnick said. “Too often and for too long, services and benefits for our veterans have been a convenient target for spending cuts. That must stop, and we must work harder to keep every promise made to the men and women who served this nation.”
Minnick has made veterans a particular focus of the constituent casework done by the employees of his Congressional offices in Idaho.
“Navigating federal bureaucracies is never easy, but my staff does do and will continue to do all they can to make sure promises made to Idaho veterans are promises kept,” Minnick said.
