CONGRESSMAN BOUCHER ANNOUNCES $30,000 FOR THE HILLSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Federal Funds Will Improve Parking at the Department

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Rick Boucher announced today that, at his urging, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through its Rural Development Agency, is providing a federal grant in the amount of $30,000 to the Town of Hillsville to improve and expand the available parking at the Hillsville Police Station.

“The federal funds which I am announcing today will enable the Town of Hillsville to improve the parking area at its police station to help the Town’s police officers and Hillsville residents visiting the station to park with improved safety by adding more parking spaces and addressing safety concerns with the current parking spaces,” Boucher said.

The total cost of the parking improvement project is $40,000. In addition to the federal funds, the Town of Hillsville is contributing $10,000 toward the project. Currently, the Hillsville police department lacks sufficient parking for police vehicles and visitors, and the existing parking surface is in poor condition. As part of the project, the parking area will be expanded and the parking surface and entry ways will be improved.

It is important to ensure the safety of our law enforcement personnel by providing them with the best possible facilities. Today’s announcement will help Hillsville’s police officers by ensuring the parking area at the police station can accommodate police vehicles and visitors," Boucher said.
