OBEY ANNOUNCES $3.7 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT
TO HELP IMPROVE CHIPPEWA VALLEY REGIONAL AIRPORT

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Seventh District Congressman Dave Obey (D-WI)  announced today that the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport is set to receive $3.7 million in federal grant money to help continue ongoing terminal improvements, including the addition of a passenger boarding bridge and a baggage carousel.  This grant will complete the roughly $10 million project.

"There is growing demand for business aviation in north central Wisconsin and our airports need to improve their facilities and service to keep up with that demand," said Obey, the Chairman of the House Appropriation Committee.  "These funds are intended to help Chippewa Valley Regional Airport make necessary improvements and hopefully spur economic development for the entire community."

Local companies like 3M, Berry Plastics, Bloomer Plastics, Cray, Extrusion Dies, Menards Inc., National Presto Industries, PDM Bridge, Phillips Plastics, Raytheon, Silicon Graphics, St. Joseph's Hospital, Turbine Technologies, Zimpro, and many others, rely on the airport for their transportation needs.

The grant was awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).  The AIP provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports.
