Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today contacted the Hungarian Ambassador in Washington D.C. with an expression of sympathy and offer of support after a deadly spill of toxic sludge in western Hungary wreaked havoc in several towns.
“Today, we as a community stand with our brothers and sisters in Hungary who have been affected by this tragedy. The ties that bind Hungary and Northeast Ohio and numerous and strong. We feel this tragedy deeply. I offer my sympathies to those affected and their families, and I stand ready to marshal the resources of the American government assist the Hungarian nation,” said Kucinich.
Kucinich, who is Co-Chairman of the Hungarian American Caucus, sent an official letter of support to Hungarian President Pál Schmitt and Ambassador Béla Szombati. View a copy of that letter in English and Hungarian here.
