DJOU ATTENDS WHITE HOUSE CEREMONY HONORING WWII VETERANS

Washington, DC — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) issued the following statement after attending a bill signing ceremony at the White House where the Congressional Gold Medal was awarded to the 110th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team:

“It was truly humbling to attend today's ceremony. I cannot think of more deserving recipients of the Congressional Gold Medal than the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team for their courage and valor during World War II. Their noble service not only helped to preserve our great nation and the ideals for which it stands, but it has brought great honor to the state of Hawaii.”

BACKGROUND:

Congressman Djou is an Army Reservist and from 2003 to 2006 served in the 100th Battalion/442nd Infantry's sister unit - the 1101st Garrison Support Unit. Both the 100th Battalion/442nd Infantry and the 1101st GSU fall under the 9th MSC, stationed at Ft. Shafter.

He was the Staff Judge Advocate and later the Acting Assistant S-3 with the 1101st GSU.
