Statement of Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) on the resignation of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor:
“For twenty-four years Justice O’Connor has been an important voice of moderation and reason on the Supreme Court. Today is a day to honor Justice O’Connor’s service and dedication.
“It is now up to President Bush to honor the legacy of Justice O’Connor by appointing a moderate who values the principals of equality and fairness. In an already divided country, I believe it would be harmful for the President to use Justice O’Connor’s resignation as an opportunity to radically shift the court towards any political ideology.”
