Listed below are Congressman Altmire's federal funding requests for the Surface Transportation Authorization bill. This legislation will lay out the federal government’s transportation and infrastructure funding priorities for the next five years. As the only western Pennsylvanian on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Altmire is working to secure funding that will improve western Pennsylvania’s infrastructure and pave the way for our region’s long-term economic growth.

It is important to note that all of these requests are still being reviewed by the House Transportation Committee. There is no guarantee that any of these project requests will be funded.

City of Aliquippa
S.R. 3016 (Kennedy Blvd.)
Requested Amount: $3 million
Funding will be used to engineer and repair S.R. 3016 and to improve drainage along the road.

Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN)   
Urban Highway Runoff Mitigation - Route 28 Projects (Aspinwall)   
Requested Amount: $2 million
Funding will be used to re-route the stream under Route 28 to lessen impact on streets and businesses and prevent overflow of sewer systems.

Freedom Road Upgrade
Requested Amount: $12.7 million
Funding will be used to upgrade the Crows Run Corridor of Freedom Road from Route 65 to Route 989.

Veterans Memorial Bridge
Requested Amount: $4.8 million
Funding will be used to design and construct a new bridge over the Beaver River.

Big Beaver Borough
Norwood Drive Reconstruction
Requested Amount: $792,500
Funding will be used for construction to prevent the persistent sliding of Norwood Drive.

Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad
Southwest PA Bridge Safety Upgrades
Requested Amount: $1.75 million
Funding will be used to upgrade and repair bridges on the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad.

S.R. 0356
Requested Amount: $3 million
Funding will be used to plan, design and execute a widening and signalization project, as well as to coordinate and relocate utilities around S.R. 0356 in Buffalo Township.

Route 228 Corridor Improvements at the I-79 Interchange
Requested Amount: $4 million
Funding will be used to design and construct new ramps and to widen the roadway for additional lanes.

Route 228 Corridor Improvements at Mars Railroad Bridge to Mars-Valencia Intersection
Requested Amount: $2.5 million
Funding will be used to improve the Route 228 Corridor between Mars Railroad Bridge and Mars-Valencia intersection.

Funding will be used to improve the safety and efficiency of the intersection at Saxonburg Boulevard and Westminster Road in Clinton Township.

Requested Amount: $1 million
Funding will be used for planning, engineering, acquiring environmental clearance and right of way for widening the bridge over I-76 on Freedom Road.

Traffic Signal at S.R. 68 and Marion Hill Road
Requested Amount: $175,000
Funding will be used to design and construct a traffic signal at the intersection of S.R. 68 and Marion Hill Road.

Funding will be used for the paving of Frishkorn Road and the installation of a pre-purchased bridge.

Second Street Bridge Replacement
Requested Amount: $2.8 million
Funding will be used for the design, planning, and replacement of the Second Street Bridge.

Broadway Ave. (PA Route 60) Improvement in Wheatland, Farrell, and Sharon
Requested Amount: $500,000
Funding will be used for pedestrian safety improvements along PA Route 60, including construction of a cement concrete sidewalk, blockstone foundation, and vehicular pavement markings.

Road Repairs in Freedom
Requested Amount: $400,000
Funding will be used for road and street repair in Freedom, PA.

Requested Amount: $6 million
Funding will be used for an additional turn lane at the intersection of Route 30 and Red Dog Road.

Duncan Ave. and Rt. 8 Improvements
Requested Amount: $1.1 million
Funding will be used to design and construct the widening of PA S.R. 8 and the realignment and widening of Duncan Avenue.

Karns Road Reconstruction
Requested Amount: $100,000
Funding will be used for the planning, design, and reconstruction of Karns Road in Harrison Township.

Indiana Township
Cove Run Road
Requested Amount: $400,000
Funding will be used to improve Cove Run Road in Indiana Township and to prevent its annual closure from November-April due to hazardous grades and curves.

Thorn Hill Road/Brush Creek Road/Commonwealth Drive Improvements
Requested Amount: $263,000
Funding will be used to plan and execute the widening of the northbound Brush Creek Road approach at Thorn Hill Road and Commonwealth Drive to accommodate a right turn lane. Funding will also be used to construct improvements on the eastbound approach of Thorn Hill Road at Brush Creek Road and Commonwealth Drive to improve efficiency and safety.

Requested Amount: $125,000
Funding will be used for signalization at the intersection of Wexford-Bayne Road and Cole Road.

Requested Amount: $1.75 million
Funding will be used to add a turning lane and traffic signal at the intersection of Pine Creek Road and Blazier Drive.

Requested Amount: $150,000
Funding will be used for the replacement of the Brookwood Drive Bridge.

Funding will be used to replace the signal controller systems at various intersections along Midland Avenue.

New Castle Street Paving Project
Requested Amount: $1 million
Funding will be used to pave sixteen streets in New Castle.

Funding will be used to construct needed upgrades to accommodate the opening of the new Grant Street Bridge.

Funding will be used to replace the superstructure of the Chapel Drive Link Bridge.

Funding will be used to rehabilitate and preserve the Country Club Bridge in North Sewickley Township.

Funding will be used to reconstruct two intersections in Oakmont, near the Edgewater Brownfield site, that have been classified as deficient in traffic studies.

Requested Amount: $205,000
Funding will be used to plan, design, and construct improvements including widening and signalization on a section of Fox Chapel Road where it intersects with Delafield Road in O’Hara Township.

Ross Hill Road Reconstruction
Requested Amount: $2.5 million
Funding will be used for the design and installation of two walls to prevent persistent roadway sliding.

Coffee Run Road Bridge Replacement
Requested Amount: $25,000       
Funding will be used to replace a one lane, box culvert bridge on Coffee Run Road in Pulaski Township.

Funding will be used to acquire right-of-way, plan, design and construct improvements at the intersection of Old Butler Plank Road and Route 8, including widening and signalization.

Funding will be used for design and installation of a pre-fabricated bridge at Swamp Poodle Road.
