MEDIA ADVISORY: KUCINICH TO INTRODUCE LEGISLATION TO REDUCE GAS PRICES

Pumping Gas

Washington, May 1, 2008 -

***TOMORROW***
2 p.m.

FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2008
CONGRESSMAN DENNIS KUCINICH’S CONGRESSIONAL OFFICE
14400 DETROIT AVENUE
LAKEWOOD, OHIO 44107

With rising gas prices crippling the budgets of American families, Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) will introduce legislation next week to reduce the price of gasoline.

The Gas Price Spike Act is supported by 60 Members of Congress.

The bill will address the spike in price of gasoline by placing a windfall profits tax on oil companies; giving tax credits for the purchase of ultra efficient vehicles; and providing federal grants to reduce mass transit fees.

“Consumers are continuing to be gouged at the gas pumps daily,” stated Kucinich.  “The only thing rising faster than the price of gasoline right now is the skyrocketing profits of the oil companies.”
