Pico Rivera Centre for the Arts to Host Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony on Saturday,
April 26

Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano (CA-38) will again sponsor “An Artistic Discovery,” an annual award ceremony for a National High School Art Competition conducted throughout the U.S. by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The awards ceremony will take place on April 26 12-2 pm at the Pico Rivera Centre for the Arts (9200 Mines Ave., Pico Rivera 90660). The winning artists will receive cash awards of $100, $75 and $50 for first, second and third place. The entries will be exhibited at the Centre from April 14-May 2.
The contest provides members of Congress the opportunity to showcase the work of many talented youth throughout our district.
The competition was open to all high school students residing within the 38th Congressional District. Guidelines for the art contest were mailed to all high school Principals and Art Teachers throughout the 38th Congressional District. The art will be judged by a committee comprised of members of the community.
This year will mark the 27th anniversary of the competition. Since its creation in 1982, hundreds of high school students have participated. The 1st Place Winners have an opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building. The artwork of the second place winner will be exhibited in Rep. Napolitano’s office in Washington, DC and third place in her district office at:

11627 East Telegraph Road, #100,
Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670.

“We do not praise, recognize or applaud the thousands of talented, artistic students in our communities,” said Rep. Napolitano. “I am extremely proud to be able to put on this event, but I am even prouder of the works of art created by young people right here in the district. We invite our residents to come admire and delight in our youngsters’ great talent.”
