Van Hollen Statement on Yesterday’s Incident at Discovery Communications in Silver Spring

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement on yesterday’s incident at Discovery Communications in Silver Spring, M.D.:
“My thoughts and prayers are with the people and their families who faced the dangerous situation at Discovery Headquarters yesterday afternoon. I thank Police Chief J. Thomas Manger, local and federal law enforcement, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, and the management at Discovery Communications for their response – safely evacuating employees and the day care center, securing the area, and freeing hostages. Although there was a loss of life, their courage, swift response, and professionalism helped prevent a bad situation from becoming worse and even more deadly.”
