Mar 31, 2003 -
Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Cleveland) has invited high school students to submit art for his annual Congressional “Artistic Discovery” competition for high school students living in Ohio’s 10th Congressional District.
“The greater Cleveland area is home to a very talented community of student artists,” stated Kucinich. “I encourage every high school artist to enter a piece in this competition. The winning art will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, home to many famous and historic pieces of art.”
The “Artistic Discovery” competition is sponsored by Members of Congress annually for public and private high school students. All art submitted is judged by a panel of artists from the Cleveland art community. The winning entry will be sent to Washington, D.C. for display in the United States Capitol.
Student artists are invited to submit selections to either of Congressman Kucinich’s District offices at 14400 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood or 5983 West 54th in Parma. Artwork must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10th. The art will be exhibited at the Cleveland Artists Foundation Gallery in the Beck Center. The awards presentation will take place Sunday, April 27th at 1:30pm.
