Mr. Chairman, I appreciate the opportunity to appear before this Subcommittee
to discuss the major efforts under way to reform the military health care
system. My testimony will cover a range of topics, including:
- A brief review of the current military medical system and Tricare;
- The Congressional Budget Office's (CBO's) evaluation of the Tricare proposal;
and
- The effectiveness of alternative approaches to providing care for military
beneficiaries, including the issue of Medicare reimbursement to the Department
of Defense (DoD).
