Local Westlake Residents to Air Concerns About Proposed Traffic Light Removal
Federal Highway Administration to Hear Residents' Safety Worries
Washington,
Nov 29, 2000 -
Representatives from the Federal Highway Administration will hear local Westlake residents' concerns about the proposed removal of two traffic signals at a special meeting scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at 7 p.m. at St. Ladislas Church, 2345 Bassett Road, Westlake, Ohio.
The City of Westlake was recently awarded $3 million in federal aid to upgrade its traffic signals by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). But apparently as a result of heavy commuter traffic volumes and FHWA guidelines, award of the federal funds would require the removal of two local traffic lights, located at Basset Road and the corners of Detroit Road and Hilliard Boulevard.
The meeting with FHWA officials, open to the public, will allow for local area residents to share their views on how the removal would affect the conditions of local residents, particularly local residents residing near the Basset Road traffic signals, and to hear from the FHWA on the proposal.
