Arizonans can access resources they need to help protect their homes

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell today launched an online Foreclosure Prevention and Survival Resource Center to help Arizonans access the resources they need to help protect their homes.

"Recently, I had the opportunity to host a Foreclosure Prevention & Survival Workshop in Scottsdale. The response for information and assistance was so large that I created an online Foreclosure Prevention & Survival Resource Center made available to Arizonans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," Mitchell said. "This online center provides numerous resources in one place that can help people make informed decisions on how to protect their homes."

Arizonans who are at risk of foreclosure, or those looking for information to help avoid becoming at risk, can visit this website to find links to several housing, financial and consumer protection agencies as well as other online information and guidance that can help them stay informed and have a more secure financial future.

On Saturday, May 2, Mitchell teamed up with the Arizona Foreclosure Prevention Task Force to host a Foreclosure Prevention & Survival Workshop at Scottsdale's Granite Reef Senior Center.  It included one-on-one foreclosure counseling with HUD-certified housing and finance professionals along with presentations on budget counseling, rebuilding your credit and information on how to increase the value of your home now and in the future.

Mitchell has supported the creation of the Neighborhood Stabilization Plan to help communities with high foreclosure rates rehabilitate, resell, or redevelop homes in the neighborhood.  Additionally, Mitchell co-sponsored a bill that would give up to a $10,000 tax credit to anyone who purchases a house, this year or next year, that was built before 2009.

The online Foreclosure Prevention and Survival Resource Center can be found here or by visiting Mitchell's website at http://mitchell.house.gov.
