Kucinich On The Federal Rail Administration New Quiet Zone Rule
Washington,
Dec 17, 2003 -
Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) issued the following statement today on the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) Interim Final Rule on Train Quiet Zones:
“Since the Conrail merger in 1998, I have worked at the federal, state and community level to provide relief to residents plagued by increased train horn noise. Today’s publication of the Interim Final Quiet Zone Rule by the FRA is a positive, long-awaited, development in this continuing effort.
“The FRA has attempted to assure safety while providing residents of communities with high train traffic much needed noise relief.
“During the two month comment period, I will thoroughly review the interim rule in close consultation with local and state officials and residents of the area’s effected.”
