Congressman Hoyer has been a strong advocate for our veterans, and has worked tirelessly to ensure that America’s veterans receive the respect, care and benefits they earned through their service to our nation.

Congressman Hoyer has strongly supported the recent historic increases in funding for the Veterans Administration, improving the quality and efficiency of care in our nation’s VA facilities.  Over the past three years, Congress has increased the VA budget by 58%.

He also fought to pass the historic GI Bill for the 21st Century, which will provide the estimated 2.1 million members of the military who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001 with up to four years of education benefits.

Congressman Hoyer also takes great pride in being one of the original sponsors of the legislation that created the Veterans History Project that collects the stories of veterans for future generations to hear.
