Martinez, Putnam Host Education and Employment Fair in Hillsborough County

July 27, 2009

U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) and U.S. Rep.  Adam H. Putnam (Bartow-Fla.) are hosting an Education and Employment Fair to be held on Tuesday, August 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hillsborough Community College in Plant City.

This event will provide educational workshops and employment resources. In addition, employers will be on-site to discuss potential employment opportunities. This event is free and attendees are encouraged to bring an updated resume.  Employers interested in participating may contact Alfredia Mulkey of the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance at 813-930-7839.

“Members of my staff, government agencies, and local community resources will be available to provide people with information regarding employment opportunities and resources,” Martinez said. “The economic crisis has impacted Florida significantly. As unemployment continues to rise, it is crucial that Floridians are armed with the knowledge and strategies they need to obtain a job in these troubling times. I encourage all constituents looking for employment opportunities or assistance to attend this fair.”

“In these economically tough times, one of the tangible steps we can take is to help connect employers and job-seekers,” Congressman Putnam said.  “By working together with public and private sector partners our goal is to take action to help get our economy moving again.”

The two lawmakers are working in partnership with The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Hillsborough Community College, University of South Florida, Polk Works Workforce 2020 and Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance.
