Tax Increases Signed into Law

Click through to see a list of tax increases totaling $670.341 billion that have been enacted into law under President Obama. The gross tax increases equate to more than $2,100 for every man, woman and child in the United States and include at least 14 violations of the President’s pledge not to raise taxes on Americans earning less than $200,000 (singles) and $250,000 (married couples).

Congressman Culberson fiercely opposed every one of these tax increases on hardworking Americans.

Tax Increases in the Senate Health Care Bill

The House will soon vote on H.R. 4872, the Senate-passed health care bill. H.R. 4872 increases taxes by $569.2 billion over ten years, which will harm small businesses and middle-class families in the middle of an economic downturn. The Senate bill also employs a trick by implementing 10 years of tax increases and cuts to Medicare in order to pay for just 6 years of benefits.

What the Proposed Tax Increases Mean to District 7

Here are five examples of the additional tax burden we would face under the President’s budget and the House of Representatives energy and health care tax bills. Many District 7 residents will bear the brunt of tax increases with some of the highest tax increases in the country. Our district ranks 9th out of 435 congressional districts in total projected tax increase. It is clear that our district cannot sustain this new tax burden.
