Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, incoming Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement naming Thomas S. Kahn the Democratic Staff Director of the House Budget Committee for the 112th Congress:

“I am pleased to announce that Tom Kahn will be staying on as Democratic Staff Director for the House Budget Committee in the 112th Congress.  Tom has been a trusted advisor to Chairman Spratt and a wise counsel to members of the Democratic leadership for 14 years. He has the perfect combination of policy smarts and deep understanding of the Congressional budget process. His insight will be invaluable as we work to tackle the important issues facing our economy and put our country on a fiscally sustainable path.”
