Congressman Dan Lipinski marked Memorial Day this year at events in La Grange, Berwyn, Oak Lawn, and Justice.

“Memorial Day stands as a national day of remembrance, a time when we pay tribute to the countless brave and selfless men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation and its ideals,” Lipinski said. “Their heroism has etched their names in our history and in our hearts. We must never forget the incalculable debt of gratitude we owe them. As we honor them, we honor the valiant service of all our veterans, both the departed and the living. And we reserve a special place in our thoughts for those members of the military who are placing themselves in harm’s way even now, as we go about our daily routines. We join their families in praying for their safe return.”

In La Grange, Lipinski spoke at the ceremony held by the American Legion Robert E. Coulter Jr. Post 1941. In Berwyn, he honored veterans at a commemoration organized by the Combined Veterans of Berwyn.

Lipinski attended a pair of events in Oak Lawn, joining the Veterans of Foreign Wars Johnson-Phelps Post 5220 for its commemoration at the village’s memorial wall and participating in the rededication of the village’s Blue Star Memorial.

At Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Lipinski (pictured above) joined members of nearly a dozen veterans’ organizations in paying tribute to their fallen comrades.
