Coffman Statement on September Unemployment Report

Washington, D.C. , Oct 8 -

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Aurora) released the following statement in response to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report released this morning showing 95,000 jobs were lost in September and the national unemployment rate still remains at 9.6%:

“The jobs report out today is further, although unneeded, proof that this administration’s economic policies are an abject failure.   Unemployment has been above 9.5% for 14 months, the longest consecutive span since the Great Depression, and Democrat leaders still refuse to accept the reality that their tax and spend approach to economic recovery has not worked.”

“The American people are demanding that Democrat leaders stop the largest tax increase in American history, set to take effect January 1, 2011.  As a former small businesses owner, I know first-hand that raising taxes on small businesses in uncertain economic times will suffocate growth and kill jobs.  We need to be empowering the real job creators – small businesses, not raising their taxes, in order to grow the economy and put 14.8 million unemployed Americans back to work.”
