He understands that parents, teachers, and administrators are keys to student success and hold a level of accountability. As a board member of Teach For America of New Orleans, Congressman Scalise supports programs and incentives that recruit good teachers and encourage them to teach in low-income areas. He is in favor of education reforms that empower teachers and encourage students to succeed. Scalise is also working to ensure that schools have the tools and flexibility they need to effectively educate students.

Scalise knows firsthand the importance of a quality education. He helped create and fund the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) scholarship program. As a first-generation college graduate, he understands how essential receiving an education can be to a person’s future success. Therefore, Scalise is working to ensure that students have the best education possible and, therefore, the opportunity to succeed in the global community.
