PERSONAL REQUESTS

Certain personal requests can be made by Members but must be made by themselves. Such requests include the following:

  • a request to make a correction in the Congressional Record;

  • a request to have one’s name removed as a cosponsor of a bill or resolution (this request may also be made by the original sponsor of the measure);

  • a request for inclusion in "Extension of Remarks" of extraneous material exceeding two pages in the Congressional Record which must be accompanied by a cost estimate from the Public Printer; and

  • a request to include in the Congressional Record a personal explanation of a missed vote if you want it to appear immediately after the vote (otherwise it may be inserted as an Extension of Remarks) or immediately after the vote a Member should fill out and sign a request form which can be found at the Leadership table on the House floor.
