New Mexico-Specific Effects

 

After a year-long debate in Congress, President Obama has signed a major new law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), which provides New Mexicans with health care security for the first time.  Our health care system had not been working for hundreds of thousands of New Mexicans.  This new law is an enormous step forward – one that will bring great benefit to New Mexico families.  The following provides specific information about the impact of the law on our state.  Some of the provisions in the new law are already being enacted, and others will be implemented by 2014.  Check back often to learn more about the new law.
