Kucinich Helps Find Potential Funding Alternative for Circulator Bus Program

Kucinich 111th1

Washington, Dec 18, 2009 -

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today sent a letter to General Manager of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Joe Calabrese recommending that he apply for a new federal grant to pay for Circulator buses.

“I still hear from constituents on a daily basis who complain that the new longer buses do not serve their needs and that the Circulators were the best program RTA had for them.

“I also know that RTA made a choice to go with the long buses in part because it was able to get federal dollars to support such buses.  Therefore, I am pleased to report that the Federal Transit Administration recently released a discretionary grant program for Circulator buses… I strongly urge you to apply for this funding,” Kucinich wrote in the letter.

Information about the grant was published in the Federal Register /Vol. 74, No. 234 dated December 8, 2009.
