Energy

Small businesses generate half of the nation’s gross domestic product, and, according to the National Small Business Association, are responsible for nearly half of the electricity and natural gas consumed for commercial and industrial purposes.  Small businesses need energy that is both affordable and reliable. Without it, it is virtually impossible to maintain a successful operation.

The summer of 2008 demonstrated exactly how important affordable, reliable energy is to the American economy.  We cannot allow another energy crisis to strike our nation.  Congress must expand access to traditional domestic resources, including coal, oil, natural gas, hyro and nuclear power, as well as promote exploration of modern energy resources like wind, solar and renewable fuels.  These efforts will help reduce energy costs and ensure abundant American resources while small firms and the American people alike adjust to new fuel standards and energy sources.
