Congressman Brown and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn were present when the members of the Gullah/Geechee Heritage Corridor Commission were named. The ceremony was held at the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture’s McKinley Washington Auditorium in Charleston.
The Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, as designated by Congress, recognizes the important cultural contributions made by Africans and African-Americans who settled in coastal Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
